This year, Guelph Lions club and Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is thrilled to announce that we
can again hold our annual Walk to raise funds for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides!
Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is a unique national charity that trains Dog Guides in
seven distinct programs to assist Canadians with disabilities: Canine Vision, Hearing Ear, Seizure
Response, Service, Autism Assistance, Diabetic Alert, and Trauma Support. The Walk for Dog
Guides helps provide the essential funding needed to enable Lions Foundation to continue to
provide Dog Guides at no cost to Canadians.
Each Dog Guide costs up to $25,000 to raise and train, yet they are provided at no cost to
qualified applicants. Lions Foundation does not receive any government funding and relies
solely on donations and fundraising events such as the Walk for Dog Guides.
As the largest Walk of its kind in Canada, the Walk for Dog Guides is held in more than 300
communities and is organized by local volunteers. Thanks to sponsors, both national and local
level, all proceeds go directly towards training Dog Guides for Canadians with disabilities.
